Facts about Denmark

Denmark has approximately 5,5 million inhabitants which amounts to about 1,1 % of the total EU population.

Denmark is a Constitutional monarchy and a modern democracy. The first Danish Constitution was signed on 5 June 1849 and has been amended three times since then. You can consult the Danish Constitutional Act here and view the booklet "My Constitutional Act", which provides explanatory comments on the individual sections.

The political system is a multi-party structure where several parties are represented in the Danish parliament, the Folketing. 12 parties are currently represented in the Parliament.
