The continent of Europe is named after a character from Greek mythology. Europa was a princess, and the myth states that one day, while walking along the beach, she was abducted by Zeus. Zeus was fond of women and liked to dress up when he went on adventures. Since he wanted to abduct Europa, he took the opportunity to take the form of a beautiful white bull. By appearing as an unusually gentle and tame bull, Zeus got Europa to sit on his back and then swam away with her to Crete . On Crete , Europa had three sons with Zeus. The best known of them was Minos, who later became King of Crete. It was Minos who built the famous labyrinth where the monster Minotaur, which was half man and half bull, lived, but that is another story….
